Cet oiseau mesure 21 cm.
Répartition et sous-espèces
Selon la classification de référence du Congrès ornithologique international (15.1, 2025)[1] (ordre phylogénique) :
- T. m. margaritatus (Cretzschmar, 1828) — Sahel ;
- T. m. somalicus (Zedlitz, 1910) — est de l'Éthiopie, Djibouti et nord de la Somalie.
