Nepenthes stenophylla est une espèce de plantes à fleurs de la famille des Nepenthaceae. L'aire de répartition native de cette espèce est le nord de l'île de Bornéo. C'est un arbuste grimpant ou une liane et elle pousse principalement dans le biome tropical humide.
Description
Nepenthes stenophylla ou narrow-leaved pitcher-plant[1] est une plante carnivore en forme de cruche. Il forme des urnes en forme d'entonnoir pouvant atteindre 25 cm de hauteur[2]. Nepenthes stenophylla appartient au complexe N. maxima défini de manière large, qui comprend également, parmi d'autres espèces, Nepenthes boschiana, N. chaniana, N. epiphytica, N. eymae, N. faizaliana, N. fusca, N. klossii, N. maxima, N. platychila, et N. vogelii[3].
Il y a eu de la confusion autour de N. stenophylla et N. fallax depuis que ce dernier a été décrit pour la première fois. Nepenthes fallax correspond à N. stenophylla à bien des égards, sauf pour la forme du couvercle ; l'échantillon type de N. fallax a un couvercle orbiculaire, tandis que celui de N. stenophylla est étroit. Cependant, la description originale de N. stenophylla était basée sur une plante cultivée à partir de graines dans une serre en Angleterre, et la forme étroite du couvercle pourrait être une caractéristique aberrante résultant des conditions de culture artificielles[4].
Dans sa monographie fondamentale « The Nepenthaceae of the Netherlands Indies », B. H. Danser a traité N. fallax comme un synonyme hétérotypique de N. stenophylla[5]. Cette interprétation a été soutenue par la plupart des auteurs ultérieurs[4],[2],[6],[7]. Jan Schlauer, cependant, considère les taxons comme deux espèces distinctes en se basant sur la forme du couvercle[4],[8],[9]. Il soupçonne que le taxon initialement nommé N. stenophylla pourrait avoir été plus tard renommé Nepenthes faizaliana[10].
Répartition et habitat
Nepenthes stenophylla ou narrow-leaved pitcher-plant[1] est endémique de Bornéo et se rencontre à des altitudes de 900–2 100 m[4]. On la retrouve dans le nord de l'île sur le territoire de l'Indonésie, de la Malaisie et du Brunei[11].
