Lainey Wilson (Baskin, 19 maggio 1992) è una cantautrice statunitense.

Biografia

Cresciuta a Oxford, in Louisiana, Wilson ha iniziato a farsi conoscere dopo aver pubblicato l'album in studio di debutto Tougher del 2016, classificatosi nella Top Country Albums di Billboard.[1][2] Due anni più tardi è stato reso disponibile per il commercio il suo primo EP eponimo tramite la BBR Music Group,[3] promosso dal singolo Things a Man Oughta Know, certificato oro dalla Recording Industry Association of America e doppio platino dalla Music Canada.[4][5] Il brano, che le ha fruttato due ACM Award,[6] si è garantito la vetta della Country Airplay e il piazzamento nella Hot 100 statunitense e nella Canadian Hot 100,[2] oltre ad essere stato incluso nella lista tracce del secondo disco Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'.[7]

Nel 2021, con il cantante Hardy, ha accompagnato Jason Aldean in un tour nordamericano.[8] Nello stesso anno il suo duetto con Cole Swindell, Never Say Never, ha raggiunto la prima posizione della classifica radiofonica country statunitense, mentre il singolo solista Heart like a Truck si è fermato al 2º posto.[2] Agli iHeartRadio Music Awards 2022 si è aggiudicata il premio al miglior nuovo artista country.[9] mentre ai Country Music Association Awards ha ricevuto due premi su sei candidature.[10] Nello stesso anno ha esordito come attrice nella quinta stagione di Yellowstone[11] e ha pubblicato il terzo LP Bell Bottom Country, vincitore di un Grammy Award come "Miglior album country".[12]

Nel 2023 Wilson è tornata in vetta alla Country Airplay con i singoli Watermelon Sunshine e Save Me, quest'ultimo in collaborazione con Jelly Roll.[2] Ai CMA Awards 2023 si è guadagnata cinque premi su nove candidature ed è diventata la prima donna a trionfare come "Artista dell'anno" da Taylor Swift nel 2011.[13] È ritornata sulle scene musicali nell'agosto 2024 col quarto LP, Whirlwind,[14] il primo a entrare nella top 10 della Billboard 200 e nella top 15 della Official Albums Chart;[2][15] il disco è stato inoltre promosso dal Country's Cool Again Tour.[14]

Nel corso del 2025 la cantante si è esibita nel Whirlwind World Tour, composto da quasi cinquanta date distribuite tra Europa, Canada e Stati Uniti.[16] Nel mese di maggio si è portata a casa quattro Academy of Country Music Awards, tra cui quello all'album dell'anno per Whirlwind.[17]
