Stan Barstow
Stanley Barstow, noto come Stan Barstow (Horbury, 28 giugno 1928 – Port Talbot, 1º agosto 2011), è stato uno scrittore britannico.
Biografia
Nato il 28 giugno 1928 a Horbury[1], compì gli studi alla Ossett Grammar School di Ossett e lavorò dal 1944 al 1962 come disegnatore e responsabile delle vendite per un'azienda di ingegneria[2].
Pubblicò il suo primo racconto, The Search for Tommy Flynn, nel 1957 e tre anni dopo diede alle stampe il suo primo romanzo, Un modo di amare, storia di un matrimonio infelice che ebbe un notevole successo e fu trasposto nel film Una maniera d'amare nel 1962 per la regia di John Schlesinger[3].
Divenuto scrittore a tempo pieno, pubblicò altri undici romanzi (tra cui due seguiti del suo esordio), 6 raccolte di racconti, alcune testi teatrali e un'autobiografia[4].
Associato per i temi trattati e la critica sociale al fenomeno dei giovani arrabbiati[5], morì il 1º agosto 2011 all'età di 83 anni a Port Talbot[6].
