La Star of the Seas è una nave da crociera appartenente alla compagnia di navigazione Royal Caribbean, ammiraglia della compagnia dal 2025.
Costruzione
La nave, seconda unità della classe Icon, è stata ordinata il 10 ottobre 2016 dalla Royal Caribbean International al cantiere navale finlandese Meyer Turku di Turku, nel quale era già stata costruita la gemella Icon of the Seas.
Il 15 febbraio 2023 si è tenuta la cerimonia del taglio della prima lamiera[4] della nuova unità ed il 5 ottobre ne è stata completata l'impostazione della chiglia.[5]
Il 25 settembre 2024 la nave da crociera è stata varata con il nome di Star of the Seas[6][7] e, al completamento dei lavori, nel maggio del 2025 ha svolto le consuetudarie prove in mare.[8]
Servizio
Consegnata ufficialmente il 10 luglio 2025 alla Royal Caribbean[9][10], la nave è poi salpata il 17 luglio dalla Finlandia per Cadice[11], dov'è giunta il 24 luglio e, dopo una breve sosta tecnica di tre giorni, è salpata per Ponce, giungendovi il 4 agosto. Il 12 agosto è stata trasferita a Port Canaveral, in Florida, luogo da dove quattro giorni dopo è salpata per la sua crociera inaugurale nei Caraibi.[12][13] Tornata a Port Canaveral, il 20 agosto è stata battezzata dalla madrina Kellie Gerardi.[14][15]
Record
Insieme alla già costruita gemella Icon of the Seas e al resto delle unità facenti parte della Classe Icon, detiene il record di nave da crociera più grande al mondo.[16][17]
