Etymologia

Pachytriton: gr. παχυς pakhus „duży, gruby”; τρίτων tritōn „traszka, salamandra”^[2].
Pingia: Chih Ping (1886–1965), chiński biolog^[5]. Gatunek typowy: Pachytriton granulosus Chang, 1933.
