Master of the Rings è il sesto album in studio del gruppo musicale tedesco Helloween, pubblicato nel 1994. È il primo disco registrato con i nuovi membri Andi Deris e Uli Kusch.

Dall'album sono stati estratti quattro singoli: Mr. Ego (Take Me Down), Where the Rain Grows, Perfect Gentleman e Sole Survivor, di cui i primi tre accompagnati da video musicali. Mr. Ego è dedicata all'ex cantante della band, Michael Kiske, ed è stata pubblicata come EP in Europa.

Antefatti

Gli Helloween e il cantante Michael Kiske si separarono al termine del tour di Chameleon nel 1993. Come sostituto venne scelto Andi Deris, ex frontman dei Pink Cream 69.

A causa dei continui incidenti legati all'alcol e alla droga, il batterista e co-fondatore della band Ingo Schwichtenberg fu rimpiazzato prima dal turnista Richie Abdel-Nabi, poi, in forma stabile, dall'ex batterista dei Gamma Ray Uli Kusch,[2] che arrivò solo quando la maggior parte dell'album era già stata composta.[3]

Dopo due lavori di scarso successo, gli Helloween lasciarono la EMI Records per firmare con la più piccola Raw Power (un'etichetta della Castle Communications). Ciononostante, l'ingresso di Deris e Kusch ebbe l'effetto di rinvigorire la band e l'album vendette oltre 120 000 copie solo in Giappone.[4]
