The Parable of Arable Land è l'album d'esordio del gruppo rock psichedelico e d'avanguardia texano dei Red Crayola, formazione che a partire dalle successive pubblicazioni avrebbe mutato il nome in Red Krayola a causa di controversie legali. Il disco venne pubblicato nel giugno 1967 dalla International Artists.[8]

La struttura musicale si sviluppa senza soluzione di continuità: i brani tradizionali sono infatti intervallati dalle cosiddette Free Form Freak-Out, sezioni improvvisate caratterizzate da cacofonie e rumori d'ambiente sempre differenti.[4] Alla realizzazione del disco, registrato in un'unica sessione in studio, partecipò circa un centinaio di persone — per lo più amici dei componenti della band, tra cui Roky Erickson — accreditati collettivamente con lo pseudonimo di Familiar Ugly.[4] Per la sua originalità nel fondere elementi di musica concreta con le strutture della canzone rock e pop, l'opera è considerata dalla critica specializzata un precursore fondamentale di generi quali l'industrial, il noise rock e il krautrock.[3]
