Espèces de rang inférieur
Arctops (littéralement « visage d'ours ») est un genre fossile de thérapsides gorgonopsiens ayant vécu durant le Permien supérieur dans l'actuelle Afrique australe. L'espèce type, Arctops willistoni est premièrement décrite en 1914 par David Meredith Seares Watson à partir d'un crâne mal préservé ayant été découvert en Afrique du Sud. La seconde espèce, Arctops umulunshi, est décrite en 2025 à partir d'un crâne presque complet associé à des restes postcrâniens ayant été découvert en Zambie. Deux espèces supplémentaires furent érigées, mais ceux-ci sont mis en synonymie avec l'espèce type dans une étude publiée en 2017.
